Every car uses a relay for the headlights. On my FC3S Mazda RX-7 (a 1987 model), it is located inside the switch assembly. One of the RX-7 Club administrators made extra money by rebuilding the switches because they’re so expensive to replace. Replacing the headlight relay in a FC3S means taking the switch apart and soldering in a new one. It might be similar for the Z31, but you should search on XenonZ31 first. You just might get lucky and find a how-to guide.
